J.K Rowling has received countless threats of violence and rape these past few weeks because she dared to say sex is real. And this shit goes back.
A single rape relief shelter in Vancouver decided it wanted to exclusively focus on providing shelter to women, not including trans women. They had a dead rat nailed to their door, their building covered in vile and threatening messages, calling for the murder of terfs.
Thanks to self-id laws, men posing as trans women have been allowed into our prisons and shelters, and they have raped and abused women. Karen White, Christopher Hambrook, Tyler Porter. But as lots of trans activists say, these are just one off cases, so who cares! These victims were just collateral damage. Maybe once some more women are raped or assaulted, it’ll be “serious” enough for us to do something about it.
But the cherry on top is that we’re not even allowed to talk about it. Women are shamed and harassed into silence for holding radical views. We are slandered and dog piled, and most of us can’t afford that. I saw this tweet a few days ago and it broke my heart. These are grown women, adults, terrified of losing their jobs for daring to speak up.
So I understand that at a glance, this might not seem like a serious issue. Only a few women have been hurt, if you’re not counting all the women receiving death threats online. But personally, I think we should do something about it now, before anyone else is a victim.

To clear this up, the Vancouver Rape Crisis Center issue wasn’t about allowing transwomen in. It was waaaay more nefarious than that. This was about CORE services. Meaning they had many many other services available to transwomen but services such as training to work as a counsellor for male traumatized women were not included.
THAT is what got them defunded. THAT is why TRAs attacked them. They refused to allow transwomen (ie: males) to counsel vulnerable women who had been traumatized and abused by males.
They were willing to help transwomen in many other ways but that is where they drew the line and THAT is why the TRAs attacked. They wanted to protect vulnerable women and TRAs viciously attacked them. So dont let anyone tell you it was because they werent helping transwomen. Thats a fucking lie. They simply didnt want a male human to counsel the male traumatized women who came to them for help. That’s it.
In fact, the very TIM who started the attack against Vancouver Rape Relief had literally received services from them and wanted to volunteer as a way of “giving back”. But as faemallbodied said above, they wouldn’t let him volunteer as a counsellor for vulnerable women and instead suggested other ways he could help. Nope. Wasn’t good enough for him unless he could access traumatized women. So in retaliation he accused them of discrimination and brought this ridiculous mess on them.
